I've lived all over — Virginia, the Carolinas, Texas, Idaho, Utah, Peru, and now Florida. Hunted a lot of it.

Idaho and Utah taught me western country the hard way; the Carolinas raised me on whitetail. These days I'm in Florida and still hunt out West, which means most of my year is spent getting ready for about three weeks of it.

Shooting in the yard in July and ASA 3D on the weekends. Lifting and running so the mountain doesn't win on day one. Walking hills that aren't really hills. Learning, slowly, that the gap between wanting something and being able to do it is closed one boring morning at a time.

That's where the name comes from. There are no shortcuts — not to a good hunt, and not to work that's worth watching.

I started No Short Way In because the hunting content I liked most was the honest kind. Not the highlight reel. The part where somebody's cold and it isn't going well and they keep going anyway. That's most of hunting, and almost nobody films it.

Now I film for shops, outfitters, brands, and hunters. Same standard for all of it: show what actually happened.
